This morning I’m looking at my list and realizing that I’ve got a bunch of things to take care of today. I’ll just do my best with them. It’s our last day in Utah. That makes me a bit sad. It’s been a good visit here.
We went to church at the Lakeridge Spanish ward again. The kids wouldn’t hear of going anywhere else. Then we went to America’s house for dinner. She and Betty have been friends since our Cedar City days. America dyed Betty’s hair, and she looks great!
We had to leave America’s house in a hurry, because we had to get to Annie’s house for dessert. But the light on the mountains, oh that light! I couldn’t take my eyes off it. It was one of the most spectacular things I have ever seen. It was exactly the conditions I had been waiting for during our entire time in Utah. Thankfully, I knew right where to go to get the photo I wanted.
America lives in Spanish Fork, so we headed back towards Orem, and I pulled off on Center Street, racing all the time against the sun. Thankfully, miraculously, I made it to the spot I had scouted out that first Saturday here. Right on the road that connects Lakeview Drive and Utah Lake State Park. I was kicking myself for not having my big camera, but I think the pictures I got with my phone will be great. It is a picture I will always cherish with the pink of the sky over Timpanogos and reflected on the marshy water.
It was nice to have one last goodbye with Lamon’s and Annie’s families before we hit the road again. This time to Anna-Lisa and Juan Carlos’s house. They have been our friends since the MA at BYU. Anna-Lisa works at BYU now, and she and JC are just awesome. They spent time in Europe with their kids not long ago, and they really gave us a shot in the arm.
Tonight we realized that it’s really late, and we just aren’t ready to hit the road as early as we had hoped tomorrow. Betty is feeling frustrated, and she and I decided to just rest tomorrow so we can leave really early on Tuesday. But the kids didn’t like this idea. Mom stepped in and encouraged us to leave in the morning, but I'm not sure that's best. Everyone just needs to get some rest, and we will do our best tomorrow.
